Mentoring FAQs
Three main qualifications:
- 3rd - 10th grade
- Single parent, living with extended family or an adopted parent
- Want to be a mentee
The expectation for mentors is to meet in person with their mentee at least twice per month, but to keep in touch in other ways regularly. Hopefully as the relationship grows, mentors are meeting with their mentees even more often!
You can apply to become a mentor here.
No. One-on-one mentoring relationships through Mentor Connect are free for families.
The types of activities your child does with his or her mentor will vary according to your child’s interests, but can include anything from attending sports games to getting ice cream, hiking or working on homework together! As their relationship grows, mentors may also pursue more focused spiritual guidance through Bible study and intentional discipleship.
Other FAQs
No, Mentoring Alliance is not affiliated with any specific denomination, but everything we do is focused on helping kids spark growing faith in Jesus Christ. You can find our full statement of faith here.
We love all children and wish that we could accommodate every one of them in all of their uniqueness! However, the admittance of children with special needs is on a case by case basis. Our most recent policy is located in the parent’s handbook under admittance. It states that we currently accept children with special needs into our program if we can accommodate their needs and they are fully independent in personal hygiene. Behavioral policies apply. If you have any questions, please visit our Contact Us page to find your region’s contact information and we’d be happy to connect you with someone that can properly serve you.
