Dr. Travis Craver Joins Mentoring Alliance

Mentoring Alliance hires new Executive Director, Dr. Travis Craver, and partners with Abilene ISD to launch two summer camp sites in 2024.

“I am thrilled about the appointment of Dr. Travis Craver to the position of Abilene Executive Director for Mentoring Alliance,” said Dr. David Young, Abilene ISD Superintendent. “Dr. Craver is extremely relational, highly organized and an excellent communicator.”

Craver previously served as Youth Minister at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and AVP of Spiritual Life and Formation at Hardin Simmons University. He currently serves as an Abilene City Council member and deacon at The Well church. Mentoring Alliance is excited for the experience and leadership Craver brings to the organization.

“I know that Mentoring Alliance Summer Camps, connected to the Abilene Independent School District, will thrive under Dr. Craver’s leadership and provide our students with opportunities for both personal enrichment and academic success,” Dr. Young said. “I look forward to working collaboratively with the Mentoring Alliance in the Abilene community.”

Mentoring Alliance Summer Camps provides an innovative summer school solution by combining the fun camp experience kids want with the summer learning they need. 

“As we embark on this mission and introduce our programs to Abilene over the next year, I have unwavering faith that Mentoring Alliance will serve as a beacon of hope and transformation to our kids here in the Big Country,” Craver said.

Mentoring Alliance has locations in Greater Tyler and recently expanded to Greater Waco. In addition to summer camps, the organization also offers after-school and one-on-one mentoring programs, and plans to bring those programs to Abilene soon.

“I am so excited that the community will have a place that serves kids and families year-round, providing tangible help and eternal hope,” Craver said.
